‘Badass’ is the word that best describes the recently introduced theme song of the highly anticipated remake of the 70’s hit TV series, and eventually, hit movie “Charlie’s Angels”. The music video, directed by one of Ariana Grande’s favorite music video directors – Hannah Lux Davis – features Ariana, Miley Cyrus and Lana del Rey. They are cast as a trio who are experts in fighting criminals.
The video’s cast is similar to the characters in the movie “Charlie’s Angels”. The movie remake is top-billed by Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska, and is scheduled for worldwide release on November 15, 2019. Sources disclosed that the music video entitled, “Don’t Call Me Angel” has Arianna as executive producer, along with three others who have long been doing collaborations with her. They are: Ilya, Max Martin, and Savan Kotecha.
Ariana was quoted describing her producer experience as: ““The coolest fucking thing in the world.” “Don’t Call Me Angel” is the lead single of the “Charlie’s Angels” album soundtrack, and is set for release on the 1st of November by Republic Records.
The movie soundtrack is like a blockbuster movie production. It opens with a satellite image that targets the trio’s location. It then goes on to show Ariana coming out wearing a black and yellow outfit, and black wings. The “Don’t Call Me Angel” music video portrays Ariana as the head of the crime fighting team, Miley as the “strong, muscled woman”, and Lana as a weapons expert.
The three girls were witty and alluring all throughout the music video, just like their movie counterparts who use their wit and charm in defeating their enemies. Ariana looks very sweet in her white angel costume. Miley is another thing altogether. She has apparently made a lot of trips to the gym to perfect her six pack abs and body muscles. Mind you, it looks good on her.
Lana looks like an alluring siren cum devil with her white angel costume and red outfit in some parts of the video. She is also shown throwing knives on targets with exact precision. And please watch the video till the end. “Charlie’s Angels” director, Elizabeth Banks, makes a cameo role as the boss of the ‘angels’.
On another note, observers are indicating that some of Miley’s lines in the song is a message to her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth. Miley and Liam officially announced their split on August 10, 2019. People close to the couple, however, said they have been separated for months before their official announcement.
The controversial lyrics are below:
“Don’t call me angel when I’m a mess. Don’t call me angel when I get undressed. You know I, I don’t like that, boy (uh). I make my money, and I write the checks. So say my name with a little respect”
